Bad Faith A Sister Agatha Mystery Sister Agatha Mysteries Aimée Thurlo David Thurlo 9780312934767 Books
Being the fan of Aimee and David Thurlo that I am, I wanted to try this series of Sister Agatha. I am liking this book quite well. I think it is an interesting setting that I knew very little about and that always pleases me to learn about new things or situations. The monastery setting is a very different setting for me. I knew nothing about cloistered nuns and find this information fascinating. The story line is good and the descriptions are great. Some of them are extremely picturesque. Visualizing Sister Agatha on the motor cycle with the dog in the sidecar makes me laugh out loud. That's just one of the good parts. I like the friction between her and the sheriff, too. That always add to a book for me. I also am interested in how they manage their finances in the monastery and somehow keep afloat. I believe most mystery lovers will like and enjoy this book. I am looking forward to other Sister Agatha books now.Tags : Bad Faith: A Sister Agatha Mystery (Sister Agatha Mysteries) [Aimée Thurlo, David Thurlo] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <div>Once she was Professor Mary Naughton, investigative reporter, teacher, and free spirit. Bad Faith A Sister Agatha Mystery Sister Agatha Mysteries Aimée Thurlo David Thurlo 9780312934767 Books Reviews
As always the Thurlo's wrote an excellent mystery story. I'm very glad they were prolific writers, prior to Aimee death. I really enjoy enjoy the characters and the plots are excellent. I highly recommend this book and this author.
I found this book to be a very enjoyable read and am looking for the next addition. A Nun, a Police Dog and a Harley Davidson what a team.
This is a wonderful mystery with a touch of humor - Imagine a nun in a full habit riding a motorcycle with a big dog in the side car. Yet she is brave and courageous in solving a murder mystery!
I didn't realize that the book I ordered was paperback. I had hoped to get a hard copy, but it was in good condition. Delivery time was okay but took a little longer than some vendors. Had I received it sooner, I would have rated it 5 stars.
This is the first novel in a mystery series featuring a nun named "Sister Agatha". While the story is intriguing enough to hold interest and the characters are appealing you should be aware that the version of the book has many, many paragraphs out of order some obviously even in different chapters than where they belong. , or whoever was doing the conversion of the book, needed to do more careful proofreading before releasing the kindle edition.
That said the book itself is well worth reading but I'd stick to a paper edition for now.
This is a light and easy to read mystery. Not only does the storyline engage the reader, but it reflects on the life and sacrifices of religious who dedicate their lives to a vocation. Though the writing is not to the level of an Amy Tan novel, the characters are sufficiently developed to enthuse the reader to turn pages to see what will happen next and to ultimately learn how the mystery is solved. It is fun to read and honors the Church and this reader intends to read more of the authors' books.
I loved this first book of a mystery series featuring a nun as the amateur detective. I loved reading about Sister Agatha herself, who in addition to being a nun, is a feisty, motorcycle-riding, mechanically inclined woman who was formerly a teacher and investigative reporter. I also loved the setting, Sister Agatha's isolated convent in an old farmhouse in New Mexico, and I adored the German Shepherd police dog who assigned himself the task of protecting Sister Agatha and her cloister. That there was a mystery to solve was just icing on the cake. I look forward to reading more in the series.
Sister Agatha probably doesn't resemble any nun you or I have ever known. But she is certainly faithful in her role as an extern sister at her monastery, funny as she rides her little red motorcycle with her canine sidekick beside her, and fearless as she tracks down the cause of the monastery chaplain's poisonous death. I loved her because she shows us that even as a nun in a cloistered monastery, she's a person in her own right who brought all that she was with her when she entered the convent. I only gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 because sometimes it seemed the book slowed down, and I had to read those parts to get to the next bit of action. Don't let the 4 stars deter you from enjoying this wonderful book. I've read another with her as the main character, and it's also a reverentially-humorous read. This is actually the 2nd time I've read this book and I don't often do that.
